Pledge Ready

Privacy policy

You don't need an account to use Pledge Ready. Your scores stay on your own device.

The short version

  • No sign-up and no account. We don't ask who you are.
  • Your scores and answers stay in your browser. We never see them.
  • We don't set cookies or run analytics. Google's ad code loads on some free pages, but no ads show yet.
  • Stripe handles Pass Pack payments. We never see your card details.
  • Ads aren't switched on yet. When they are, Google will run them, and this page will change first.
  • Email us any time to ask what we hold about you, or to make a complaint.

Who we are

Pledge Ready is an independent study site for the Australian citizenship test. We're not part of the Department of Home Affairs or any government agency.

This policy explains what personal information we handle, why, and what you can do about it. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

What we collect

Very little. You can use every free page without telling us anything about yourself.

  • If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message.
  • When you buy the Pass Pack, Stripe sends us your name, email address, country and a record of the purchase. We never see your card details.

We don't collect sensitive information, such as your visa or citizenship status, your health or your background.

Your progress stays on your device

Pledge Ready saves your scores, answers, missed questions and theme in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device and are never sent to us.

When you buy the Pass Pack, your browser also keeps a purchase code from Stripe. Our server checks that code with Stripe when you load the Pass Pack questions, so only paid browsers get them. The check doesn't tell us who you are.

To delete it, use Clear on the Your progress page, or clear this site's data in your browser. Your progress doesn't follow you to another device or browser.

Cookies and analytics

We don't set cookies ourselves, and we don't run analytics. Our fonts are stored on our own site.

Google's ad code loads on some free pages while Google reviews the site for advertising. See Advertising below.

Hosting

Cloudflare hosts Pledge Ready. Like every web host, its servers receive your IP address, browser type and the page you ask for. Cloudflare uses this to deliver pages and block attacks. We don't use it to identify anyone.

Read aloud

The Pass Pack's read-aloud button uses your browser's built-in voices. Some browsers send the text to their maker's voice service to speak it. That text is our question and its options, nothing about you.

Payments

Stripe handles every Pass Pack purchase.

You enter your card details on Stripe's secure checkout, never on our site, so we never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us your email address, name, country, the amount and the date, so we can confirm your purchase and help if something goes wrong.

Stripe also collects information, including through cookies, to process payments and prevent fraud. Read Stripe's privacy policy.

Advertising

We've applied to show ads from Google AdSense, and Google is reviewing the site. Its ad code already loads on our free study and information pages, so Google receives your IP address, browser details and the page you're on. It never loads during questions or mock tests, or for Pass Pack holders. We don't show any ads yet.

When ads go live, free pages will show a few. Ads never appear during questions or mock tests, and the Pass Pack turns them off.

Once ads are live, Google and its partners will use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this site and other sites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google's Ads Settings. See how Google uses information from sites that show its ads.

Before ads go live, we'll ask for your consent wherever the law requires it, and we'll update this page.

How we use and share information

We use the information we hold only to:

  • reply to your messages
  • deliver your Pass Pack and help with any problem
  • keep the records the law requires, such as tax records
  • keep the site running and secure

We never sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers named on this page, or when the law requires it.

Information sent overseas

Our providers are based overseas, so your information may be stored or processed outside Australia, mainly in the United States:

  • Cloudflare, for hosting: the United States and its worldwide server network
  • Stripe, for payments: the United States
  • Google, for advertising: the United States

Keeping information safe

Every page loads over an encrypted connection. We don't hold accounts, passwords or card numbers. The little we do hold, such as emails and purchase records, sits in password-protected accounts that only we can open.

How long we keep it

  • Progress in your browser: until you clear it.
  • Emails: as long as we need to answer you and deal with any follow-up.
  • Purchase records: five years, as Australian tax law requires.

See or correct your information

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Email hello@pledgeready.com. It's free, and we'll reply within 30 days.

Children

Pledge Ready is made for adults preparing for the citizenship test. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you're under 18, ask a parent or guardian before you buy the Pass Pack.

Making a complaint

If you think we've mishandled your personal information, email hello@pledgeready.com and tell us what happened. We'll look into it and reply within 30 days.

Not happy with our answer, or no reply within 30 days? Contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page whenever our practices change, and always before ads go live. The date below shows the latest version.
